Definitions of the Royalty Information

% of Sellers Share: is each songs percentage of the BMI Peformance Rights Organization (PRO) royalties that the Seller has at auction. The royalties from the PRO BMI are paid on radio plays of songs and songs played in clubs, in restaurants, in bars - anywhere music is played. This doesn't include any publishing/mechanical royalties from the Publisher.

Avg 2yr Royalty: is each songs average royalty over 2 years. An example is "Clothes Off ". If you purchase 25% of "Clothes Off ", the average royalty for 2 years for that 25% is $3,456. So if you had owned that song for the last two years, you would have averaged $3,456 each year.

12 Month Highest : is each songs highest average royalty in any consecutive 12 month period over 2 years. As you can see, the royalties fluctuate each quarter based on many variables.

12 Month Lowest : is each Units lowest average royalty in any consecutive 12 month period over 2 years. As you can see, the royalties fluctuate each quarter based on many variables.

Buying a portion of a writer’s share is much like buying staged used instruments or other music memorabilia; the value is not limited entirely to its financial potential. The uniqueness of song ownership and the one-of-a-kind platinum wall award is a significant portion of the appeal of the purchase. While song ownership is the only memorabilia that has the ability to yield a paycheck, like other music memorabilia it may or may not be considered an investment by traditional standards depending on the individual purchaser.

What Does "Avg Royalty At Auction" Mean?

The income represented here is only an average of the past years revenue. This is no indication of what the future revenue will be, especially in the ever changing music industry. "Avg Royalty At Auction" is the yearly average of revenue, based on information provided by the seller, of the percentage that is up for auction. That means that we have already factored in what percent is being sold, so that you do not have to do any further calculation. Everything being equal, if you had owned the song over the last year, this is what you would have recieved, again on average.

FYI: Royalty Statements usually run at least 6 months behind so that is why you will see a long lag time in the information reported here. Also, some information is reported quarterly, some bi annually.
