We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off
From Preston Glass:
Jermaine Stewart, who was the artist that had a Top 5 pop single with this song, was not the originally intended target artist. It was Sheena Easton! Yes, I had heard Sheena was looking for a new song that could have a Provocative title, yet have a clean subject matter in the lyrics. So I rose to the challenge… and came up with the song. Only the first draft of the song had a different title… it was “We Don’t Have To Get Naked”! (talk about provocative...). After my wife rightly advised me that a title like that might ruin my image, I came up with what we all now know as “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off”. However, Sheena Easton never got to hear the song, so producer Narada Michael Walden presented it to Jermaine Stewart, who loved it and wanted to record it. I’m glad he did…
